Through the glass, 20 stories high...
I hit a busy patch at work and took it pretty hard. Since last week was my “off” week for working out/obeying diets/being generally good to myself, things have taken a lot of push to get started again.
I am getting started with the content push again so hopefully we will keep things pretty full around here.
I am exhausted right now but I know that I will get some time to write down...

I'm all out of Nickland Funbucks
(Joe Fernandez gave me that phrase, all credit goes to him)
Seriously, I am finding myself on a mountain of stuff that I have semi-played/barely-played/completely-played in my closet. This is good for a couple reasons.
1. It’s good to have a collection.
2. Impress chicks that are into videogames, whom are few and far between. Plus, I am married to someone that doesn’t give a...
Yep, I am kicking this thing off
The most depressing and emotionally draining winter of all is finally gone forever. To clarify, the amount of stress, lonliness and disappointment these past few months has been tremendous. I can’t really go into specifics, but this winter was one of the hardest that I can remember in my life.
One of the problems that I have had is not having a creative outlet. I am having trouble trying...
Nick, where are you?
I wrote a giant post and it is now lost in the cosmos. More to come, I guess.

Busy
I had a rough week at work last week, then had a couple days to catch my breath, only to fling myself back into the fray at the tree farm. It really isn’t draining on me, I did get to play a good chunk of Mass Effect, but not as much as I would like.
Because of this, I am getting a longer Christmas break and putting all my chips in for that weekend being bangin’ awesome.
I will try...
This is truly the age of dragons
Two weekends ago, I sat on a couch with Zach and Rod thumbling through the first few hours of the Dragon Age: Origins as an Elf/Warrior/Commoner campaign. It was - for lack of a more epic, dragonish descriptor - amazing.
The problem with Dragon Age: Origins is that it comes with a helping of “you just don’t get it”. Nicole was driven to sleep by the dialog and the amount of...
What's old is new
New Super Mario Brothers Wii.
Who would of thought that we would be sitting here and accepting a game (a game with high praise that is) with “New” in the title? 5 years ago, I would of told you that it didn’t exist. It couldn’t exist. It shouldn’t exist. That was before New Super Mario Brothers on the DS. When I got that game on launch, I was thrilled to play a...
Criminals
me: liz have you ever had friends get into an accident and then fight their case in court?
Elizabeth: not that i know of...
me: k
Elizabeth: are you guys trying to decide if you should fight it or not?
me: yes
she is pissed because i am calling her a criminal
since my family has no criminal background, i told her to call her mom up
or her brothers
that didn't go over well
Elizabeth: hahaha....awww i'm sure it didn't
me: kewl, i am going to keep researching
Elizabeth: yeah....because did you say that if she fights it then it won't hurt her insurance?
me: yeah
i am pretty sure it goes up
and she is the only reason why it is so high in the first place
Elizabeth: awwww
poor nicole.
October is over, now back to normal
October was full. Full of weddings, outings, parties, birthdays, schedule conflicts and thanks to Nicole’s crazy weekend, car wrecks. I am more prepared for November and feel like I have a one up on the entire month. When I get busy, I play a lot of catch up and tend to stay up for inhuman amounts of time trying to wedge everything in. On top of work, I had exercise, and three fantastic...

Zombieland/Brutal Legend/Batman: Arkham Asylum
Zombieland was a surprise. I thought for sure that it would be a little better than average, but I found that I was laughing a lot more than I usually do in a theatre. Especially during the Bill Murray cameo, everything they wrote for that section of the movie was comic gold. It felt good, 90 minutes was perfect, and the company that I went to the movie with was comfortable. But a few words...

Essential Game Design Rules (Preface)
Throughout the years, I have played almost everything I can get my hands on. From the shake, shake, shake of Mischief Makers to a free downloadable Mac game called Space Phallus. There are few things that I miss and my ambition is only strangled by the amount of free time I have (which is getting less and less every year I grow older). I have tried my hand at game design and all it has left me...
I can run
I started to run about 20 minutes when I get home. To be honest, it isn’t horrible but I keep thinking it is. For someone that worked out regularly until Tulip Time this year, I shouldn’t be too surprised at my performance. I played tons of videogames this summer, ate lots of cheeseburgers, took naps, designed some new projects/games, and spent a lot of it off my feet. Now I am...
I don't have a Wii or Xbox360 in the house
Which leaves my PS3 and a chance go get the platinum in LBP. I don’t know how to promote and refine a user created level, but I do have one concept written down. I am sure that I will chisel away at trying to make something that people would like to play, I just hope it is short and worth playing.
I am pretty sure that I will download and really give Fat Princess a fair shake. I want to...
I shaved my face and now I feel weird and confused
A few updates.
1. Sorry for not posting, I have not had a lot of extra time dedicated to other activities. Most of them were summer related, so thank goodness for falling leaves and temperatures.
2. I drive a truck.
3. Achievements/Trophies have become more of a focus, they help me get the most out of a title. I spent an extra 10 hours playing Shadow Complex, which were not wasted, but...

Q: Why isn't LittleBigPlanet developer Media...
(This is not the real reason why they aren’t making level packs, at least not from Media Molecule. This is my personal opinion and “best guess” when it comes to this subject. I am applying most of the knowledge that I have gained from the industry to come to this conclusion and typing it out lets me sleep at night knowing one day, I could be correct. Abbreviation notice: MM =...

It's been 4 years
I have been married four years. I guess you could call it surprising that we are still in love with each other. We are two opposites that somehow have made a marriage, friendship and our lives meld into something beautiful. People see how we interact and become jealous, which I understand. Not everyone’s wife or husband would call getting a PS3 with LittleBigPlanet a “worthy...

I don’t need to let you all know this, but when we live in an age where I can stream all the big three conferences (I also listened in an a few more) right to my computer at work, you should know that I am going to be all ears. E3 was renewed to its former state, ready to blow the lid off of Los Angeles. Every company needed to bring it’s A game and really showcase itself. I say...

Mirror's Edge
Played quite a bit of it today, the game is really starting to grow on me. After playing through a few more levels of the campaign, I went and tried a couple timed trials. This turned Mirror’s Edge into a racer somehow. I was concerned about how to shave seconds off my time. I almost would wish that I could play this game for about 4 weeks before release so that I could really study the...
I purchased my first Xbox Community Game last night. I haven’t had a lot of time with it, but I have played the demo several times and thought that I owed it to Mommy’s Best. Either way, it was only 400 spacebucks and I played through the first level. The art style is really great, it is a pretty interesting thing to show people that come over. I hope that Community Games achieve...
